discontinuing use of theo-24

I was diagnosed with adult asthma in Sept. 2008.  I am a 54 year old female. I am currently on: 400mg of Theo 24 (2 200mg pills) along with:  Pulmicort and Brovana in a nebulizer twice a day,  Spireva once a day, Xolair once a month, Accolate twice a day, Zyrtec once a day, and allergy shots 2 times a week.  I asked my Dr. if I could go off of something because I am feeling much better.  He said I could go off the 400mg of Theo 24 starting tomorrow.  I am happy about that but I am surprised that he is not having reduce this gradually rather than "cold turkey."  What do you recommend?  Thank you...Sue Perkins
