vaccinationsBy lori from San Diego, CA on February 12, 2008 Category: RABIES VACCINE (Injection) (Injectable) Three weeks ago, (from today) I brought my Chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy into my home. His new home. He was born around May/June of 2007. Living on a 4.5 acre ranch with his mother and the remaining 2 puppies. They lived in an unoccoupied horse barn amongst hay. My puppy is approx 8-9 mos old. Koko was given his first series of Parvo Shots at 8 weeks of age. Koko was introduced into his new home a week before he received his last parvo shot. (He is due to receive his 2nd and last series of parvo shot in another week. I am concerned that I may have brought on the rabies vaccine on him too soon. I am worried that perhaps I should have maybe waited until he was well past the parvo series shots before giving him the rabies shot? With his just coming into a new home and seemingly adjusting quite well as he has become such a big part of our family something tragic could happen. Koko twice threw up since getting the rabies shot two days ago. He is due for his last series of parvo in two weeks. I will be calling the veterinarian's office first thing in the morning as I have just discovered that I could be doing more harm than good to my dog by having all of this take place at once. I've read that throwing up after receiving the rabies shot is imperative that the vet be called immediately. I was hoping that I could get some real straight answers from you as you seem to be so knowledgeable. In the meantime, I am wondering if I should find my Koko a new "Doc"? Not one word was said to me about watching for any warning signs or given any paper work to read with regard to any symptoms that might arise. As an animal lover and a first time dog owner of my beloved Koko, If you can direct me into the right direction with any referrals, advice or anything, I would be ever so grateful. Thank you in advance for you help! Respectfully, California Dog Lover, Lori Cheeseman leraj1@gmail.com
