Primacare Capsule -cannot swallow

My Ob-gyn has prescribed primacare as a prenatal vitamin.But I am not able to swallow the purple pill.It sounds wierd but I am able to puncture the capsule while in the mouth and swallow the oozing liqud content inside with a glass of water.Is this okay ? Am i getting all the nutrients ? Please advice.
