Can Coumadin cause heavy bleeding menstrualBy KJ on August 19, 2006 Category: Coumadin (Oral) Can Coumadin cause your menstrual periods to be very heavy with clots, bright blood? I was hospitalized three weeks ago for blood clot, COPD, & Congestive heart failure. I have now been on Coumadin 5mg every day and my period started Monday and today is Saturday and is very heavy. I feel okay, but I am concerned of loosing too much blood. I also have a blackish purpleish bruise on my side? Thanks |
Can coumadin cause heavy menstrual bleedingYes Coumadin can cause heavy menstrual bleeding. I was started on coumadin after having two prosthetic heart valves placed. Even though my INR's were therapeutic, I bled and bled and bled. My blood levels plumitted. I eventually needed a hysterectomy because the doctors couldn't stop the bleeding any other way.
