sodium chloride irrigation in a bottle vs. injectable lactated ringers solutionBy Melissa from LA, California on August 14, 2006 Category: Sodium chloride Is it safe to inject sodium chloride plain irrigation from a BOTTLE into the shoulder before starting the shoulder arthroscopy procedure. Normally, lactated ringers injectable in a 3,000 ml bag is injected into the shoulder throughout the procedure, but there was a descrepancy with one of the nurses and she thought that the bottled saline is the same thing as the injectable saline or lactated ringers. I thought it was different and didn't feel that it was safe to put an "irrigation" type of sodium chloride into the shoulder prior to making the portals. Please respond back, Melissa |
