Nicoderm and breastfeeding?

Hi I am quiting smoking and I was just reading the little book inside the Niroderm pack and it said don't take if breastfeeding

I was wondering the side effect of taking the patch when you are breastfeeding . I am in the process of stopping breastfeeding my son I only breastfeed him 2-3 times a day for very short periods of time . It;s it safe for me to take the patch?
