Primacare with other supplementsBy Karen from Chicago, IL on July 07, 2006 Category: PrimaCare ONE (Oral) My obstetrician gave me some Primacare samples while we are trying to conceive. I currently have a 7 month old and am a little concerned about rebuilding my calcium and iron stores for the next baby. I have always eaten TOTAL brand cereal in the mornings which claims to fulfill "100%" of my daily calcium, iron, and folate needs as well as several other vitamins and minerals, but have just now noticed on this website that I should not be taking any other supplements. Should I stop eating this cereal while on prenatal vitamins? I've also decreased my calcium supplements to 1-600mg tablet per day since starting them because I understand that Primacare contains some too, but should I discontinue those as well? |
calcium and ironMy doctor recently suggested that I start taking Primacare One. I was doing some research and found this site. Here's a little information about some other vitamins. You shouldn't take calcium and iron at the same time. They compete against each other and block the full absorption from each other. Also, when you're pregnant, you should get 1200mg Ca. You should have 600mg at least 4 hours apart. The body can only absorb 600mg at a time. By Unknown on September 19, 2006 | Reply | Write a Reply |
