Action/Kinetics: Completely absorbed in 3 hr. Peak effects: 2-3 hr. Duration: 4-24 hr; t 1/2: 10-30 hr, depending on urinary pH. Excreted in urine. Acidification increases excretion, whereas alkalinization decreases it. For every one unit increase in pH, the plasma half-life will increase by 7 hr.

Uses: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children, narcolepsy. Adderall contains dextroamphetamine sulfate, dextroamphetamine saccharate, amphetamine sulfate, and amphetamine aspartate and is used in children aged three years and older who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or narcolepsy. Adderall provides similar relief as methylphenidate but with an extended duration of action, allowing for once or twice daily dosing.

Special Concerns: Use in children less than 3 years of age for attention deficit disorders and in children less than 6 years of age for narcolepsy. Not recommended as an appetite suppressant.

How Supplied: Tablet: 5 mg, 10 mg. Adderall: 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg.

Dosage
?Tablets Narcolepsy.
Adults: 5-20 mg 1-3 times/day. Children over 12 years, initial: 5 mg b.i.d.; increase in increments of 10 mg/day at weekly intervals until optimum dose is reached. Children, 6-12 years, initial: 2.5 mg b.i.d.; increase in increments of 5 mg at weekly intervals until optimum dose is reached (maximum is 60 mg/day).
Attention deficit disorders in children.
3-6 years, initial: 2.5 mg/day; increase by 2.5 mg/day at weekly intervals until optimum dose is achieved (usual range 0.1-0.5 mg/kg/dose each morning). 6 years and older, initial: 5 mg 1-2 times/day; increase in increments of 5 mg/week until optimum dose is achieved (rarely over 40 mg/day). The dose of Adderall is 5-30 mg per day.
