Antonio, Antonio - 01/15/2014

My girl takes a combination oxacrbazpine (trileptal), sertraline (zoloft), and melatonin for sleep. She also sees a psychologist/therapist every 2 weeks and of course is dealing with the trials and troubles of her freshman year of highschool. She has a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. The symptons or BPD and Bipolar are so closely related often times it will mask as each other until later in the teen years when the symptoms start to delineate. Also I am told that bipolar can and often comes as episodes that ebb and flow as the youngster gets older; BPD is a constant state of mind that must actively use coping skills to retrain the thought process and self preceptions. We have learned not to be afraid of it and to face this head-on and understand that life will have some emotionally draining challenges, but also seeing the applications of what she is learning and seeing those small steps of progress is encouraging. Pay attention to the small steps forward and understand that only hindsight will provide the ability to see the progress forward... I want, pray and hope for only good things for you all. My God is a loving and faithful God that is in control of everything - I trust Him that things will get better. Its the journey that helps us grow - not the destination. Keep me informed and let me know if you need one of my shoulders or ears. (((hugs))
