Classification: Antihistamine, ophthalmic See Also: See also Antihistamines. Action/Kinetics: Selective H 1 antagonist which inhibits histamine-stimulated vascular permeability in the conjunctiva. Very little reaches the systemic circulation. Uses: Relieve signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis. Contraindications: Parenteral or oral use. Use to treat contact lens-related irritation. Special Concerns: Use with caution during lactation. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children less than 3 years of age. Side Effects: Ophthalmic: Blurred vision, burning or stinging, corneal infiltrates, corneal staining, dry eyes, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, keratitis, tearing. CNS: Headache, abnormal dreams. Respiratory: Pruritus, rhinitis, sinusitis. Miscellaneous: Asthenia, bad taste, dermatitis, discomfort. How Supplied: Solution: 0.05%
