It's not the stomach itself that is the cause of the noise but the contraction of your intestines as air moves through them. If you are swallowing a lot of air this can happen or when you have a lot of gas. Some foods cause more gas than others. Any food that is high in soluble fiber, for instance, is only broken down by bacteria in the large intestine, so that can mean more gas. You say that you eat tons of vegetables...vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, onions, artichokes, and asparagus all cause excess gas. Beans, Fruits like apples, pears, and peaches - whole grains, like whole wheat and bran - sodas and fruit drinks, all cause excessive gas also. Foods with sorbitol, often used as a sweetener in sugar-free gums and candies can also aggrivate this condition. Fruits, vegetables, and grains are important for digestion though, so don't eliminate these healthy foods from your diet. You may just need to eat a little less of them to ease your symptoms. Avoid anything that might increase your chances of swallowing air, such as smoking, drinking through straws, and eating too quickly. Consider keeping a food diary. If you can't figure out what may be causing your increased gas, try keeping a journal of what you eat. You may find one or two foods that seem to increase your symptoms.
