Heat intolerance Quote | Reply

I am a 26 year old female who has problems with heat intolerance. Anytime I drink something warm (especially anything with caffeine), I start to sweat excessively. No coffee for me! During summer months, even with the air on, I am forced to take cold showers just to cool off. I sometimes have "hot flashes" like a woman going through menopause. I have had blood tests for hyperthyroidism and they are always normal. What is going on?!?

You should consult with a neurosurgeon for advice. The temperature of the body is regulated by neural feedback mechanisms which operate primarily through the hypothalmus.

The hypothalmus works together with the pituitary gland to produce hormones over physiologic processes. These hormones helps to not only control the feedback mechanisms, but the key temperature sensors, as well. Therefore, you should talk to your doctor about specfic treatments for menopause.

Hope this answers your question!

Prisoner: Look here, doctor! You've already removed my spleen, tonsils, adenoids, and one of my kidneys. I only came to see if you could get me out of this place!

Doctor: I am, bit by bit.
