Those who are determined to succeed rarely fails, for determination is the bed-rock on which the power of application rests. As the runner runs better each succeeding day, so does greater efficiency come through constant effort. (Unknown Author)

Hey Guest, how are you doing?

Objectives of this article is to allow opportunity for you to define your body mass index (BMI) in order to have a more precise weight loss goal (See eMedicine's Body Mass Index Calculator). Then, inform you of the side effects associated with intestinal lipases inhibitation during the use of Orlistat (Xenical®).

NOTE: The BMI is a measurement of your weight relative to your height. Obesity is defined as having a BMI of greater than 30.

Obesity means accumulation of excess fat on the body. Xenical decreases the absorption of dietary triglycerides (fat) by inhibiting intestinal lipases. (The North American Association for the Study of Obesity Orlistat inhibits dietary cholesterol absorption)

As stated by the research team at The American Physiological Society (APS), headed by Donna Krupa:

When nutrients react with small intestinal receptors a regulation of gastric emptying and appetite occurs, stimulating the release of gastrointestinal hormones, including CCK (cholecystokinin) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). In healthy subjects, infusion of fat within the first division of the small intestine slows gastric emptying and reduces hunger and subsequent food intake; these effects are, at least in part, mediated by CCK. The slowing of gastric emptying by small intestinal nutrients is associated with a reduction in proximal gastric tone, suppression of antral pressure waves (PW), and stimulation of tonic and phasic pyloric pressures, i.e., the muscular tissue surrounding and controlling the aboral outlet of the stomach. The increase in pyloric motility may be the most important of these mechanisms, because the stimulation of phasic and tonic pyloric pressures is associated with cessation of transpyloric flow.

Their studies went further in humans to suggest, the slowing of gastric emptying, suppression of appetite, and stimulation of CCK secretion by fat are dependent on the decomposition of triglyceride to fatty acids. Therefore, it has been established that both pharmacological inhibition of lipase (Xenical) and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency are associated with more rapid gastric emptying of fat. (The American Physiological Society Lipase inhibition found to weaken the effects of small intestine fat on gastrointestinal activity, appetite, and hormones)

Rapid gastric emptying, or dumping syndrome, happens when the lower end of the small intestine (jejunum) fills too quickly with undigested food from the stomach. "Early" dumping begins during or right after a meal. (The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC) Rapid Gastric Empting)

Symptoms of early dumping include nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, diarrhea, dizziness, and fatigue. "Late" dumping happens 1 to 3 hours after eating and includes hypoglycemia, weakness, sweating, and dizziness. (The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NDDIC) Rapid Gastric Empting)

When meals are eaten (breakfast, lunch, and dinner; with the occasion of small snacks in between) foods provide us with the nutrients we need for healthy bodies and the calories we need for energy. However, if we eat too much, the extra food turns to fat and is stored in our bodies. (Galletta Obesity Treatment)

Keep that and this in mind, as you continue your endeavor to loose weight, obesity is considered a chronic (long-term) disease, like high blood pressure or diabetes. It is best controlled with the use of medical professional, group support programs such as Weight Watchers or Take Off Pounds Sensibly, known as TOPS, that provides peer support and promote healthy habits; not to mention the consequenses of a failed weight loss plan, obesity may cause many serious long-term consequences for your health, and it is the second leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States (tobacco is the first). (Galletta Obesity Overview)

For most people who are overweight or obese, the safest and most effective way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. If you eat less and exercise more, you will lose weight.
(Galletta Obesity Causes)

Therefore, during the time you are scheduled to take Xenical, threw in a brief 30 minutes, 5 times a week, to start. In addition, by decreasing daily calorie intake by 500 calories or expending an extra 500 calories during exercise each day, you will lose about 1 pound per week. (Galletta Obesity Treatment)

Best wishes, Angelic

Prisoner: Look here, doctor! You've already removed my spleen, tonsils, adenoids, and one of my kidneys. I only came to see if you could get me out of this place!

Doctor: I am, bit by bit.

Xenical is a FDA approved prescription drug. I think it has no side effect for a normal healthy person. However if u r suffering from a disease may it has some side effect. Better to consult a doctor before xenical.
