YES! (Simple not extreme) Sleepiness is a common side effect of using Methadose. However, as with all narcotics, be sure to follow all of the recommendation from the manufactures regarding what you should avoid e.g. other medicines that make you sleepy i.e. any other over-the-counter cough, cold, allergy, or pain medication without first asking your doctor or pharmacist and alcohol. Also, use extreme caution with this drug. Because the side effect sleepiness can imitate signs of an overdose, if you think your boyfriend has had too much of this medicine, do not hesitate to call 911 Emergency; too much or an overdose can be fatal. Other important signs of respiratory depression you should look for are: shallow breathing, slow heartbeat cold, clammy skin; confusion; severe weakness or dizziness; or feeling light-headed, fainting and last but not least, extreme drowsiness (sleepiness). The night I was taking Morphine, and took too much, I know for a fact that I almost died; from respiratory depression, with no one there to call help for me, I had to keep moving around to stay alive! So, since your boyfriend is experiencing extreme drowsiness (sleepiness), you should notify his Doctor or Prescriber right away so that he can re-evaluate the dosage. Hope this answers your question!
