My doctor just gave me a prescription for Fluoxetine (generic for Prozac), 20 mg., to help with depression. This is the first time I've ever taken anything for depression. I've recently been studying about Bipolar Disorder. I have many of the depression symptoms. My doctor wants to try the medication first. He told me that Medical no longer covers treatment for mental disorders. Is this true?

I work as a substitute teacher and I'm very concerned that I may not be able to continue taking Fluoxetine. The medicine makes me very tired, dizzy, headaches. I do feel somewhat relaxed, but very sleepy. I cannot function at work under these conditions.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Try taking your medication in the evening instead of the morning.

I was also on Fluxetine (Prozac). I took it at night, it helped me relax and I was fine during the day.

Note: Be careful if your on blood pressure medication also they can cause depression like symptoms.
