Milk to lose weight? Quote | Reply

Hi, this is my first attempt at a post. Its been 3 years since Ive
lost the 25 pounds that were really hurting my self esteem (Im a
female college senior now, am 55and weigh 130). I lost the weight
over a 5 month period, almost entirely by switching from sodas and
juices (very high in calories and carbs) to water and coffee. But I
found that while I was losing fat, I would feel weak and constantly be
hungry. Adding a lot of milk to my diet changed this (high protein,
low fat and calories). I soon became sick of skim milk, which was too
watery, but was afraid whole milk would put my weight back on. While
visiting my sister in Boston I stopped by a Garelick Farms
promotional event (I always go for free samples) and got hooked on
Over the Moon Milk. It tastes exactly like 2% and Whole milk but has
the same calories and fat as skim milk (and much higher protein). So
my advice is, get rid of empty liquid calories from juice, sodas and
alcohols, but keep milk to sustain muscle mass and avoid hunger. Of
course, working out could never hurt either. If anyone has any
feedback on this strategy, let me know.

Hello and thank you for your comment. It makes a lot of sense and when
I think back, I was thinner and healthier when I drank milk on a daily
basis.

The reason that milk may help a person lose weight is because the
calcium it contains helps break down fat. A healthy well-balanced diet
will provide you with the daily calcium requirements needed to do
achieve this same result. The overthemoon product is rich in calcium
and protein and, if used while you are already following a balanced
diet plan, you can actually over do it. A good multivitamin containing
calcium or a calcium tablet itself would do the same for you as a good
old glass of milk would. It's individual preference. Adequate calcium
consumption promotes bone development and helps to prevent
osteoporosis. However, high calcium intake can increase a person's
risk for certain cancers. If I can give you advice, I would eat a
well-balanced diet.

Drinking pasturized milk on a consistent basis is about one of the
most foolish things we can do for a health. I have found the
HPS-ONLINE.COM website http://www.hps-online.com/food/index.htm has a
lot of information on this, and about losing weight too... with
hundreds of testimonials at their forums, I find it hard to believe
that they are wrong. 2centsworth.

I have recently increased my consumption of dairy products by eating and drinking yogurt. (Before that, I rarely included dairy products in my diet.) It started out as a convenience thing, but I have noticed that it has helped me with the few pounds I have wanted to lose. I will second the reply you received about calcium breaking down fats. And isn't yoplait now advertising that calcium helps to burn more fat? It is absolutely true, in my opinion!

Thanks a lot for giving such a nice suggestion. Milk is very good for your health but if some one wants to lose weight they avoid taking milk. They think milk contains more fats but toned milk have very less amount of fats, so they can use toned or double toned milk.
