Last 14 years my weight has been up and down, but nothing too extreme. Last 5 years i have been taking antidepressants on and off and my weight reached all time high. I managed to get down to about 132lbs but could not maintain it and over 2 years went up to 200lbs. I was motivated once, but now cannot do it. It is so bad that i do not want to go out with friends or family because of my weight and have become a hermit, with only going to work and shopping if essential. I know how great it would be to be thin again and buy nice clothes and have that confidence, but i, at an all time low i give up after 2-3 weeks. Im also an emotional eater.

open to any good advice

Well, I have a few ideas that you could explore. Here are some possible reasons you are not losing weight:

1. you are depressed - this could cause you to eat emotionally and not get enough exercise. you may need to see a therapist or get on some antidepressants.
2. You are not using more calories than you are taking in. Do you exercise at all? If not, why don't you start one thing and start out slowly. It could be walking, swimming, aerobics class - something cardio. If that sounds daunting to you start out real slow. If you think you don't have time you are just fooling yourself. You can always make time for something to have to do. Wake up 30 minutes earlier than usual and get out and walk. Start out walking fast for 15 minutes. The next day do 15 minutes or add a couple of minutes. Everyday get out and walk, rain or shine and keep adding a minute or two. It will get easier the more you do it. Always take stairs, never elevators. Park your car far away from the store door when you go shopping or when going to work. Always choose the way that will give you more exercise.
3. see a nutritionist. If that is not affordable, there are tons of books out now on how to eat. Lots of people are losing weight on the South Beach diet.
4. Keep in mind that you need to make lifestyle changes, not just go on a diet. You probably need to change your diet and exercise regime and make it part of your life for the rest of your life.
Hope this helps!

Staying at home is only going to hurt, not help. Just FYI.
