Chicken skin on the back of my arms Quote | Reply

Does anyone know what these are? It's almost like acne (they sometimes
get whiteheads), but they are smaller bumps that look almost like a
rash. Any OTC items that may work on this? They don't itch or spread
to other areas, just the back of my arms. Summer is coming and I'd
love to get this taken care of. thanks!

Do they itch? Does it only itch when you are sweating? It may be sweat
bumps. I used to get those whenever I worked out alot.

I have the same problem with the chicken skin on the back of my arms
and I also have it on the tops of my thighs. I have been to the
dermatologist about it and he told me it's hereditary and that I'll
always have it. Recently, I tried DMSO cream on it and I applied
it a few times a day for several days in succession, and it has been
the ONLY treatment that has ever worked for me. DMSO is a natural
(not synthesized) molecule that is derived from the papermaking
industry, and it is made by trees. It is sold over the Internet, at
various prices, but someone gave me a resource for it that is
reasonably priced and it has a rose-scented base that makes it
pleasant to use. Normally, DMSO has a somewhat garlicky scent and it
can make your breath smell garlicky and obnoxious, so beware of that
aspect. DMSO is used as an industrial solvent because it it a tiny
molecule that happily transports other molecules along with it.
Whatever you put on your skin can be transported into your body so be
absolutely sure your skin is clean and that you do NOT put any thing
on your skin or work in areas with toxic chemicals such as pesticides,
because these will be transported into your body along with the DMSO.
This is actually easy enough to do, but be aware of this fact when you
use it. Make sure you do not use just any DMSO, either, for the same
reason. DMSO is a known anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and
anti-fungal molecule that transports oxygen molecules that help heal
your body. It takes a lot of DMSO to be toxic, and it's more than you
will ever need to put on your arms, so you can apply it fairly
liberally to the backs of your arms. DMSO is also fabulous for
burns and sunburns. I burned my fingers on the grill one day and I
grabbed my jar of DMSO and stuck my fingers in it. Almost immediately,
the pain stopped and the skin was less red. DMSO, as it turns out, is
a known remedy for burns and sunburns. I can tell you, it works better
than aloe and I will always keep some on hand for burns. Another
aspect of DMSO is that is functions as a nerve block. I have arthritis
and I use it instead of drugs for pain. Sometimes my shoulders hurt a
lot and after I put DMSO on my shoulders, the pain subsides in a
couple of minutes and I am able to move and function with very little
pain and a lot of range of motion. There are no side effects, either.
DMSO will not cure arthritis, but it stops the pain without side
effects, provided you follow the above advice about clean skin! My
boyfriend has roseacea, and he normally takes Tetracycline for it. I
apply it to the sores he gets on his back and arms, and in a few days
we can see dramatic improvement. Again, DMSO does not cure Roseacea,
but it sure helps heal the sores and if he used DMSO continuously, he
likely would not have such bad sores in the first place. It truly
helps heal the skin lesions. I like DMSO because it is safe, when
used with these precautions, and it is a natural substance. It is not
promoted much in the mainstream medical world because the
pharmaceutical companies try to push their profit-making drugs. You
cannot make much money by selling DMSO. It's cheap and readily
available. But is also works. Here's the link that we use to order
the product: http://www.myvitanet.com/dmso.html I use the
rose-scented cream and I apply it several times a day for several
days. Actually, I did that for a while and now my skin has almost no
bumps, even though I seldom put DMSO on it now. I used to hate to wear
short sleeves but now I do because I don't have those embarrassing
bumps. I used to pick at them and my arms and thighs looked like I
rolled around in a blackberry bramble. Yuck. I hope this helps!

I made a goof on the bit about DMSO being anti-bacterial, anti-fungal,
and anti-VIRAL. I typed anti-fungal twice. Sorry! I hope you try
DMSO and that you find it helpful. Please let me know if you do try it
and if it works for you. I'm always interested in knowing if it helps
others and finding success stories (or disasters to avoid) to share.
I believe, but do not know, that the chicken skin is a form of
folliculitis, which means that the gland that forms the hair follicle,
gets inflamed and forms that pesky white and often red bump. I believe
the DMSO attacks the bacteria that causes the infection and
inflammation. I'm not a doctor or a scientist, but I am always curious
about how things work. All I can know for certain is that DMSO is the
first and only remedy that has helped me with this. Good luck!

[i:a4c39bf4e9][b:a4c39bf4e9]I would like to know if you used the
product DMSO and if it's working for you. I have the same problem and
I wouldn't mind trying something that will finally work.
Thanks![/b:a4c39bf4e9][/i:a4c39bf4e9]

IF IT IS RIGHT AROUND THE ELBOW, YOU MAY WANT TO BE CHECKED FOR
SCABIES. I WAS TOLD BY AN EMPLOYEE LAST YEAR WHO WAS DIAGNOSED WITH
SCABIES THAT SMALL WHITISH BUMPS NEAR THE ELBOW ARE ACTUALLY EGGS OF
THE SCABIES...THESE ARE VERY CONTAGIOUS. PEOPLE CAN HAVE THEM AND MAY
NOT EVEN KNOW. I HAVE NOT CHECKED THIS INFO OUT SO AM JUST LETTING YOU
KNOW.

It's called [b:fa19d70bd8]keratosis pilaris[/b:fa19d70bd8], and
unfortuantely I have it too. It's supposed to be very common.
I found this about it [quote:fa19d70bd8]Its sometimes called chicken
skin and the good news is those rough, scaly patches are nothing to
fear. Millions of people are affected by this rarely mentioned but
all-too-common hereditary condition officially known as keratosis
pilaris. Usually found on the upper arms and thighs[/quote:fa19d70bd8]
Here's the rest of the article ..... http://www.helpforkp.com/...e_to_bumpy_skin.html
I think I'm going to try the KP Duty that it mentions on the
treatments part of the website. HTH!!!

I also have these bumps(whiteheads) as well as my whole mom and dads side of the family. I was also told that it is heriditary. I usually take cod liver oil pills and it seems to help a little. I recently was prescribed Ammonium Lactate and so far its not helping but we'll see. I also just read a few articles saying that Vitamin A helps alot, which is also in Cod liver oil.

I also have had chicken skin on the back of my arms forever it seems. I had heard a few years ago that it is allergy related. Recently, I started doing allergy elimination treatments with NAET (check out www.naet.com) and was told again that it is allergy related. I didn't even know I had food allergies until taking my son in for treatment. It's been amazing! My skin is improving as well as other minor nagging things...headaches from time to time, minor body aches, tiredness, mild stomach upset, etc. I urge anyone with "Chicken skin" to check into it! No pain, non-invasive and it eliminates the allergy forever! Almost too good to be true. Check it out!

Hi. I read your post and I want to let you know something of interest. My daughter is 14, and has had KP her entire life. Bumps on her face, neck, chest and arms have plagued her for years. Last week I took her for a physical exam, and the doc ordered a blood test since her periods are irregular.
She came back, and told me that my daughter has hypothyroidism, which can be controlled, thank God.
It causes those bumps. Also, weight gain, sluggishness, and other things. Maybe you should have your daughter checked. I wish I knew earlier since my daughter had growth issues, and is only 5 feet tall. Good luck.
