Nothing here, or on-line in any forum or website is supposed to take the place of qualified medical evaluation. Only your doctor or healthcare professional can evaluate you in person, know your history and other things related to you or your condition, and provide qualified advice and/or treatment. Current technology does not allow for on-line diagnosis or treatment of any condition, and is used only as a guide or starting point for qualified in-person assessment. Agreed :) On-line forums should be about sharing information, clearing up concerns, maybe even support, but *NOT* diagnosis. There is no way to diagnose anyone on-line, from what they post in their message. An attempt to be "helpful" could actually put them at risk from delayed treatment, to mis-self-treatment (Is that a word or three?) Perhaps, even more than the spam, posts that attempt to actually diagnose or offer specific treatment ADVICE should be deleted or annotated. It's one thing to ask about a disease or treatment that you or someone you know is going through, or to seek support and perhaps confirmation of a doctor's treatment plan in a general way, but to ask "I have xyz symptoms what do I have and what should I do?" is out of the realm of ANY on-line forum.
