Action/Kinetics: Binds to specific retinoic acid receptors which may normalize the differentiation of follicular epithelial cells resulting in decreased microcomedone formation. Trace amounts absorbed through the skin.

Uses: Topical treatment of acne vulgaris.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to adapalene or any components of the vehicle gel. Use in sunburn until fully recovered.

Special Concerns: Use with caution in those who normally have high levels of sun exposure or in those sensitive to the sun. Use with caution with medicated or abrasive soaps and cleaners, with soaps and cosmetics that have a strong drying effect, and with products that have high concentrations of alcohol, stringents, spices, or lime. Also use particular caution with products containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid. Use with caution during lactation. Safety and efficacy have not been determined in children less than 12 years of age.

Side Effects: Dermatologic: Erythema, scaling, dryness, pruritus, burning, pruritus or burning immediately after application, skin irritation, stinging sunburn, acne flares.

How Supplied: Gel: 0.1%; Topical Solution: 0.1%.

Dosage
•Topical Gel Treatment of acne vulgaris.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Apply a thin film once a day to affected areas after washing in the evening prior to retiring.
