lost a pill

I dropped a pill on the floor and couldn't find it anywhere. does it matter if i skip just one dose and then resume on the next day when it is time to take my next one. i am just really concerned that if i didnt take that pill it would make me become pregnant. please let me know if it is really bad that i missed a dose. thank you very much
