kenalog injection 80mg for knee pain post arthroscopyBy donna from sacramento, california on August 19, 2006 Category: Kenalog-40 (Injection) I am a pharmacist who has been standing for 35 years. My right knee began to give out and was painful beginning 3 years ago after a round of golf on Labor day. Dec 2003, I had arthroscopy for removal of a fibrous plica band. Post surgery, less pain, however, I always felt like my knee was still giving out and had the knee equivalent of an ongoing headache. The orthopedic surgeon's PA gave me a shot of kenalog 80mg injected to one side of the knee cap. I was concerned with the dosage (I was not really familar with the dosages for knees) and the amount of fluid..total of 10cc with the xylocaine. I experienced some facial flushing similar for about 3 days. On the 4 th day I began having stomach c ramps in the evening and have continued till the next morning. the pain was similar to the pain after colon surgery when I had a obsturction. Is it possible that the dose was too high and is causing these side effects? I was advised that this one dose should take care of the pain. I may require a 2nd smaller dose later according to the PA. Please let me know...Rph donna |
