Another side effect of Donatussin DC?

My son is two year old last week he cachted an ear infeccion plus a bad cough, then started almost a week with Donatussin but then he was vomiting. After the first dosage the started with a diarrehea and now he's getting it twice a day. It's been a few days and I'm stopping the medicine. Is this what i should do?
