Low Testosterone Levels for Young Age

I am 32 years old and have lost all sexual desire toward my husband of 7 years. My doctor said my levels were so low, almost unreadable. He prescribed Syntest as one pill a day for 90 days. I am so uncomfortable reading the side effects of cancers, etc. Is this the only option for low levels of testosterone? I have three children and don't intend on getting pregnant again any time soon, but I can't guarantee that I'm not having anymore, what about the side effects of causing birth defects or cancer in children later in life. How long would I have to be off the Syntest before this wouldn't be a concern during pregnancy? Is this not a good medication if I am not menopausal?
