Metoprolol (Toprol-XL)

My wife has recently been prescribed Metoprolol (Toprol-XL) in place of Atenolol 25mg, because her BP has recently dropped to 97/59. (Coincidental with the application of the Nitro-Dur patches) She has had three (3) MIs previously. She also has severe pain from spondolothesis of the lumbar spine and a 16mm displacement of L4 over L5 plus a compressed fracture of T12 following a fall.

Her current medications are:

Mornings (with breakfast)

NEXIUM 40mg

ATACANDPLUS-(Candesartancilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide) 16mg/12.5mg

METOPROLOL 47.5mg

ISCOVER (Clopidogrel –HS) 75mg

ASTRIX (Asprin) 100mg

XANAX 1mg

SERETIDE Accuhaler 500/50 1 Dose

EDRONAX (Reboxetine) 4mg

SPIRIVA (Totropium) 18 mg Capsule

Mornings 8am.

NITRO-DUR 5 (8hrTransdermal Patch) 1 patch

Evening

ZOCOR (Simvastatin) 20mg

EDRONAX (REBOXETINE) 4mg

XANAX 1mg

Bed Time

SERETIDE Accuhaler 500/50 1 Dose

Other Non-Daily Medications

FENTANYL (Transdermal) (continuing 1 patch every three days) 100 mg /hr

DECA DURABOLIN 1 injection monthly

As Required:

ENDONE <40mg/24hrs

CODIENE PHOS 30mg

CLARATYNE LORATADINE 10mg

VALIUM (Diazepam) 2mg

Is Metoprolol (Toprol-XL) a known cause of stomach ache. She has developed stomach pains following her fisrt two treatment with this medication.
