Can Fortamet give me facial pain or the withdrawal of fortamet can?

Category: Fortamet (Oral)

I was recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic and started taking fortamet 500 once a day. I stopped last friday because I started feeling very weak , tired and lightheaded and started having facial pain, pressure and tooth pain. I was taking antibiotics, decongestants and antihistamines also.
I wanted to know if Fortamet can give me facial pain or maybe the removal of the medicine would. I’ve only been on it for 2 months and my sugar is fine when I test it without taking fortamet.
I’ve tried Flexeril and Neurontin but nothing helped, I’ve gone to several dentists with no results and my jaws and face really hurt. They feel hot and inflamed, no fever, just feels like feverish and chills. The allergies here in Louisville, Kentucky are terrible since we are so close to the Ohio Valley. Thank you, Ileana

Managed Care

Have had experience with Fortamet possibly causing a depletion of magnesium deficiency, with accompanying muscle pain. Also, there is no mention of what the antibiotic was that you had and I believe there is an adverse reaction warning to Fortamet taken with Cephalexin. (Brand name Keflex) Was it the same Dr. who prescribed both for you? If not, most people often do not realize how essential it is to keep a list of your medications in your wallet and share it with any Dr. you see, including your dentist. At your appointments for annual physical, it's wise to bring all of your medications in their bottles, with you, for review. Your Dr. may want to discontinue, substutue, or add a medication. Hope we both hear more information on patients experiences with Fortamet. Sincerely, Marsha
