7 yr ol healthy daughter began vomiting on friday, three days ago, 2-3 time a day. She is also sleeping quite a bit. Her stomach ache seems to come & go in spasms. We have given her ibuprofen for the fever, which she vomits up after. We took her to her pediatrician today. He gave her Pediatex-D, 1 teaspoon twice a day. He also gave her Phenergen, to use just in case she could not keep the syrup down. He ordered no milk products, greasy foods, etc.

She is keeping fluids down, and has not had to use the phenergen, but she is still having stomach spasms. The doctor had also ruled out appendicitis.

We looked up the Pediatex-D on the internet, and was wondering why the doctor ordered a sinus and cold medicine for a stomach virus?

Please respond.
