Cysts on ovaries - Need help or advice fast!By Robin from Aspen, CO on April 12, 2006 Category: Gynecology After getting the results of my ultrasound last November, 2005, I was told that I possibly have a dermoid cyst. I also have had fibroids for about two years. I saw another gynecologist this past Friday, April 7th, 2006 and she said that my fibroids have gotten so large (7 x 7 x 8) that she can't even see what's going on but noticed a large complex mass growing on my ovary. I'm hoping this is still a benign cyst and nothing life threatening. She could see that whatever this mass is has doubled in size since last November. Can a dermoid cyst double in size in 4 1/2 months???? She, along with my doctor in NY, to whom I faxed the medical record, believe that I should get this out immediately. I'm terrified by what they're suggesting...an ovariectomy or a hysterectomy. What if it turns out just to be a dermoid cyst that is benign? And the fibroids aren't bothersome to me, just some intermittent bleeding (not heavy) between periods. Increasing my anxiety is the fact that I don't have health insurance right now!!!! I'm really in a terrible predicament and don't know what to do. Any advice? Thank you for your time. |
