Trinessa Weight GainTrinessa made me gain 25 pounds! By Rebecca from New York on February 19, 2006 Category: TriNessa (Oral) I was on a very strict weight waterchers diet for a few months and lost 15 pounds. I started trinessa and the doctor suggested that I would gain a few pounds. Many of my friends had also added that they had gained about 10 pounds at the most. While sticking to my strict diet, I found it strange that I was rapidly gaining weight instead of regularly losing it. I started to be very concerned when 2 weeks later, I came to find out that I had gained 25 POUNDS! I was so distraught i consulted my physician and went off immediatly. |
Triness weight gain...me tooI thought I was the only one - my doctor did tell me there could be some weight gain with this medication, but I have put on nealy 30 pound in a very short time! I had not changed my activity level or my food intake. I Even increased activity and decreased food intake, and the weight keeps mounting up. I will be using Tri-Sprintec now, as that is what my paharmacist substituted because of the recall. I wonder how that will affect my weight? February 24, 2006 | Reply | Same thing happened with Tri Nessa.I wonder the same thing? I was on the Tri-Nessa and was fine until I heard that it was recalled. They then gave me the Tri-Sprintec. I am only on my third pill, but wonder if the Tri-Nessa made me gain 30 pounds because I have been one the Tri-Sprintec before and was fine after I had my second kid. The only reason that I changed from the Tri-Sprintec to the Tri-Nessa like back in October in the first place was because the Wal-Greens by my house didn’t have it. I have been on the Tri-Nessa since October and now they recalled it, so I am back to Tri-Sprintec. My question is after taking the Tri-Sprintec for awhile again I want to see if I still gain or was it just the Tri-Nessa. Please let me know if it has changed for you too or is it the same? By Danielle from Orlando,Fl on March 07, 2006 | Reply | Tri-Nessa weight gainI’m almost 19 years old and I have always had a nice figure, complete with an okay exercise routine and hefty appetite. I just recently got off of Tri-nessa after its recall, but I have noticed since being on it from november that I have gained a lot of weight on my hips and in my stomach..which has never happened before!!! I didn’t eat anymore than usual and in fact I have been exercising even more. Now I am on Tri-Sprintec and I am very hesistant to stay on it. Does anyone have an birth control pills that may make you LOSE weight??? helppppppp!! By Jane from Chapel Hill, NC on March 08, 2006 | Reply | Trinessa weight gainI am a freshmen in college. I have put on 20-25 pounds. I thought it was the freshmen 15 at first, but then I realized that I didn't start to put the weight on until after the end of first quater. This is about the time that I started using Trinessa. I know that most, if not all, bc makes it easier to put on weight but this is crazy. I can't lose the weight even though I go to the gym almost everyday!!!! I didn't know that others had the same problems, but now that I know I am going to stop taking it. To be honest I didn't know about a recall either!!!!! There are some types of bc that are less likely to make a person put on pounds but one would have to talk to her doctor to find out what type is needed. OTC-LO worked the best for me. By Brandi from OH on March 19, 2006 | Reply | nothing for me yethey guys i have been on tri-nesa for about a month now my weight is actually the same how long was it for you guys that the weight started to increase and also why was there a recall and is it still in effect hopefully someone can answer my questions thanks March 31, 2006 | Reply | TriNessa Weight GainI thought it was just me! I have been the same weight for years now. As soon as I went on TriNessa I gained 6 pounds. I thought I was going crazy (which my mom assured me I was). I have basically been able to eat what I want, in moderation, without any problems. Now, I eat a bowl of cereal and I am 2 pounds heavier. I realize 6 pounds doesn't sound all that significant, but it's very distressing and I'm glad to know it's not just me. By Betsy on April 24, 2006 | Reply | I Need Help - taking TriNessaI have been told to take TriNessa for a b/c, but I have heard some much negativity on it and you have said that you gained a lot of weight and it is almost impossible for you t lose it. Now that you have gotten off of TriNessa and switched to OTC-LO, what are the side effects on that and how much better is it? By Kimberly from Oak Grove, MO on May 07, 2006 | Reply | No weight lose on TriNessaI have been on Trinessa for over a year now and I have actually lost 15 pounds rather than gain any weight. (And I don't exercise or watch what I eat.) By klink on May 09, 2006 | Reply | I need to lose this weight! So I dont feel alone anymore:) I have been on Tri-nessa since Febuary and I have gained 10-15 pounds in places I have never before... ie my stomach and hips. I’m 23 years old and I have always been a little obsessed with how I look, now I’m so sad about this weight gain The only reason I started to take it is because my health plan raised the price of ortho tri cyclen but I think it would be worth the money if I could lose the weight. When you switched back to your normal pill did you lose the weight? If so how long did it take? By Feeling low in SLC from Utah on May 17, 2006 | Reply | Weight Gain With TriNessaSo glad to know I'm not the only one. I am 17 years old and been basically the same weight since I was 13-14 only gaining about 5 pounds since then. TriNessa since December and I've gained 20 pounds! All of it in my hips and stomach. Everyone was telling me I was going crazy and was worrying to much about it!! I have been working out and trying to watch what I eat and nothing is working I just can't lose this wieght no matter what I do. I am thinking about having my doctor change my medicine b/c TriNessa makes my stomach upset anyway. So maybe I'll change and be able to get back to my body. Does anyone have any suggestions for what to switch to....something that will hopefully settle better on my stomach and also stop the weight gain? By Dee from oklahoma on June 06, 2006 | Reply | Tri-SprintecHas anyone experienced the same problems with Tri Sprintec? I was on Trinessa for a long time and was okay, but have switched to TriSprintec and feel like I am constantly hungry. Has anyone switched back to the name brand OrthoTriCyclen and not had any problems? July 29, 2006 | Reply | no recall herewhy was there not a recall in wisconsin is there something wrong with trinessa that i have no clue about i hope i don't gain any weight because i'm already 152.2 and i dont need any more whats another good birth control? By alexis from racine,wi on July 27, 2006 | Reply | Major Weight Gain on TriNessaI started taking birth control when i was 19, i was on ortho tri ceyln . And everything was great, i gained a little weight nothing major, no more break outs, no mood swings. When i finished college i went back to my family doctor for my yearly check up. She switched me to Trinessa, and told me it was the same thing just cheaper. I thought great i can save a little money. I have been on trinessa going on two years now and it has been the 2 worst emotinal years of my life!I gained 60 pounds in a year and half, i have really bad mood swings all the time, i cry for no reasonand i have no sex drive what so ever! I am getting married in a few months , and i feel aweful about how i treat the man i am going to marry, i mean i get these mood swings and i just go into a rage, i just want to hit him. I am not a violent person! I stopped taking my pills last month after my period hoping that things would get better, so far its getting better but i still have some mood swings. As for all the weight i gained i went back to the doctors, and i was given a pill to help me lose some of the weight, its going to be a long process getting back to the old me. I would not advise anyone to take trinessa, unless you want to go around feeling like a fat crazy person. By Carrie from Newyork on May 06, 2007 | Reply | Write a Reply |
