HELP me with midcycle bleeding and hormone dosing

I took birth control pills before and always had a full period midcycle and then another full one at the expected time (2 weeks later). This happened every month and then I went off the pill after 4 months. (I tried two brands and had bleeding with both, plus cramps which I don't get naturally). Some menstrual problems I do get naturally are acne and ovarian cysts in the second half of my cycle. I read that Yasmin may be good for women with these symptoms (because it is a higher dose?). My insurance will pay for Nortrel 0.5/35 or 1/35 or Necon 0.5/35, 1/35, 1/50, 10/11, 7/7/7. 1) Do you think the midcycle bleeding was from the pill dose being too low? 2) Is Yasmin better for this? and 3)Is the Necon 1/50 similar in potency to Yasmin (3mg drosperone and 30 ethinyl estradiol)?
