Heard a lot of negative feedback about Tri Nessa; Are all these complaints true?By Robyn from usa on January 31, 2006 Category: TriNessa (Oral) I was prescribed the generic form of ortho-tri-cyclen (tri nessa) due to insurance changes and I have since done some research. I found a website of almost 300 testimonials of how terrible Tri Nessa is and now I am concerned that I have been misled. The pharmacist said that this drug is just like ortho tri cyclen but 300 people from across the world who don't know each other are probably more accurate than a pharmacist that is just saying what they have been told. Is there cause for concern about this drug. I had no problems with ortho. Is there possibly another generic bc that does not have all this negative feedback. Just to be fair I did a search on ortho tri cyclen and did not find a site that had such negative feedback. Is there a cause for concern? |
TriNessa reply about negative feedbackI have been on the TriNessa for 4 months. Before that I took 4 months of Tri-Sprintec and 3 months of the brand name Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I like the brand name Ortho Tri-Cyclen best but everyone is different. You may want to try a month and see how it works for you. Your insurance company may let you purchase the brand name at a higher price. It does have the same ingredients but hormones are unpredictable. By moni from Texas on February 19, 2006 | Reply | Tri Nessa side effectsI have been taking Tri Nessa for about 3 months. I have had several extreme side effects from this brand. I've previously taken Ortho Tri-cyclen with no problems. I've had severe mood swings, week-long bouts of extreme depression, I've gained 15 pounds, and right now my period is so severe I wonder if I am hemorraghing. I'm on day 5 of my period, and have been using about 6 super tampons each day for the last couple of days. I plan to call my doctor tomorrow when the office opens. I'm wondering if this is the result of missing 2 pills this month, where I took 2 pills each for 2 days in order to catch up the cycle. In any case, I plan to request to change back to Ortho Tri-cyclen. My doctor prescribed the new pills after I experienced a miscarriage, so maybe my problems could be related to that as well. I've since learned that Tri Nessa is being recalled anyway, so hopefully I will find out more about that. By Julie from Coventry, CT on February 19, 2006 | Reply | Bad Side EffectsLadies, I was switched to this generic brand only 4 days ago, and am already experiencing problems. I have taken OTC for 3 years, never had any problems with it. NO missed periods, No pregnancy scares. Since taking TriNessa, I have been nauseated each day, experienced loss of appetite, and am having lower back pain. I called my doctor to have my prescription switched BACK to OTC. I did not want to be put on some generic brand that has failed countless numbers of women. My husband and I will be using protective measures until I am put back on OTC. It is horrible when insurance companies are so cheap. They should weigh the costs of a new baby vs. a reliable form of birth control (aka OTC!).
