Hot flashes while taking Megestrol

I am currantly on Tamoxifen. Have been on this drug since January 2002. I have encounter the usually side effects. They are: weight gain, hot flashes, increase of appitite, severe depression and of late my bones have been hurting.

I had a bone scan last week and everything is fine. Thank God!!!! But never the less my bones are still hurting (mostly in my back). I thought it was something I was just going to have to live with.

When I started the drug in 2002, I starting getting depressed, not caring about my home, job, husband, kids and worst of all I couldn't help myself from crying. I am a very happy and outgoing person. I went back to my Dr. and he put me on Wellbutrin to counter act for the depression. I started feeling better within a week and eventully I quit smoking, which I am still on. Then the hot flashes starting getting worse, so I went back to the Dr. and he put me on Effexor. I did start feeling better, but of late (within the last 4 months) I have notice they are getting worse. I had my 6 month check-up and asked for something else. This is when he put me on MEGESTROL AC. I quit taking the Effexor in replace of Megestrol, and my whole body change and I went clear back to square one. It all hit within a day or two and I went to my pharmacist and asked him if I was taking everything right. He said, they should have taken me off the Tamoxifen, the Megestrol replaced it and they should have added a take 1 one tablet when feeling hot flashes coming on Effexor, that would last about 4 hours. But the Dr. said the Megestrol was to replace the Effexor. I went from normal hot flashes to cold chills to sweating, and I either bit someones head off or started crying. I would cry for no reason at all (and I hate to cry). I even cryed durning a comedy on Tv. How sad is that? I have an appointment with my Dr. on Friday (1-27-06) to get this straighten out. Right now I have quit taking all medicine and am thinking I will not take anymore at all.

I sure hope you can help me out. I need a 3rd opinion very badly. Thank you for your time and hopefully your fast response.
