Vancomycin

It has been suggested that IV vancomycin should be used in my case to eliminate MRSA colonization because the abcesses are unusually agressive and have become increasingly frequent. Most recently, an infection in November was followed by another last month. The last infection, a peri-rectal abcess, had developed several channels and become two inches deep within 48 hours from when it started. I am inquiring because I understand that vancmycin's use to eliminate colonization is unusual.
