Levaqin leva-pak after achilles tendon surgery with an infection?

My husband had surgery for a ruputured achilles tendon 8 week ago and has developed an infection. Would this medication be appropriate? I read that one of the precautions to notifiy the doctor was tearing of tendons, pain or tenderness of tendons after taking this med.
