Hair LossBy CC from Memphis, TN on February 17, 2008 Category: Nifediac CC (Oral) I am a 39 year old African American female. Last year I had a mild stroke. The doctors put me on Nifediac, Plavix, Labatelol, Benazapril, Glimperide, Lipitor, (Furosemide, and Potassium, recently). I have been ill off and on lately. My mother's hair is thin in the top so I suspected that my hair would thin eventually. I've always had thick hair; however, in the last 3 months my hair thinned some in the very front behind the forehead, but it came completely out in 2 patches in the crown. I've been trying to research online to see if my medications could have caused this so abruptly. I feel dizzy often, my face has a tingling sensation, and over the last 2 months I feel very weak and tire easily when I walk, even if it's not a long distance. I've been having headaches frequently and for the last 3 or 4 months I've had horrible sinus infections. I have a blood pressure monitor at home and I've noticed frequently that my heart beats over 100 bpm. I know that some of this medicine is causing me problems but I just can't stop taking them. I've never had my hair come out like this before. Can you please give me some info on the meds and their side effects? Also is there anything that I can do to stop the thinning of my hair. The sides and back of my hair are still thick. I'm so upset about my hair, that I cut 4-6 inches off. |
