When to start using

My clinic switched me to Jolivette after using OrthaTriCyclen. I read in the insert that I should start my first pill on the first day of my cycle. I started on a Monday and took the pill for Sunday and Monday. All of my pills are the same color (lime green) unlike the previous ones. Are there any inactive pills in the package ? Also, will I continue to menstrate or how does those pills work?
