Persistent Lip Swelling

For a colonoscopy prep was told to only take clear liquids for 24 hours and take a total of 3 oz of oral saline laxative and 4 dulcolax tablets in two doses.
The next AM [before the colonoscopy], woke with swollen lips. Swelling went down after a couple hours but has occurred each morning since then. [one week duration now]. My MD has me on diphenhydramine which helps with itching but not the swelling and subsequent chapping due to the lips stretching each night. On various sites lip swelling is listed as allergic reaction to both drugs but no other information on duration of malady. Doesn't mention itching either. Would like to get more information on what drug company has so I can know whether this is truly a reaction to drug or am dealing with something else all together. This has never happened to me before and have not eaten any new foods that I know of. I am female, 51 yrs old. In addition to dealing with the swollen lips I am now fatigued due to all the diphenhydramine I'm on.
Thank you for any information.
