Elmirnon and heavy menstrual bleeding

Does Elmiron cause menstrual bleeding to become more heavy and to last longer?...Last month my period lasted for a few weeks with heavier bleeding than I've ever had..This month my oby/gyn has put me on Loestrim/24 birth control pills to shorten my periods and and make them lighter. However I am now on my 7th day and still bleeding...Before taking Elmiron I would bleed for about 5 days with heavy bleeding for just 2 days.....I am taking Elmiron for possible Interstital Cystistis.....I'm assuming the Elmiron is responsible for the bleeding and the longer, more painful periiods...My oby/gyn has checked me recently and confirm that that my femle organs are healthy ...Should my oby/gyn give me a medicine that would simply stop my periods while I'm on Elmiron? ..I have been on Elmiron for about 2 months witn no symptom improvememt yet....
