Unable to refill meperidine 100 mg.

My physician prescribed meperidine 100 mg. after numerous attempts to take codeine based medication made me extremely sick (vomiting and migraine headaches) This medication is the only one that relieves pain in my neck and back after having neurosurgery a few months ago. I'm now unable to get a refill from Walgreen's which is the only drugstore in my town that carried it. I only take this product at night and am very careful that I follow the instructions and directions given by my doctor who monitors me closely. Is there an adequate substitue. My last try was oxy contin which made me sick (of course) and nothing else seems to relieve my pain. Can this be purchased from the manufacturer. I have a prescription from my doctor which I would like to get refilled. My doctor's nurse called the drug company and was told that it was no longer available. Is this true?
