Taking Alprazolam or Xanax for Anxiety?

Hello,
Its been 8 days or so that I've been clean from more than a year long addiction of OxyCodone for the treatment of anxiety. The doctor prescribed Alprazolam to me for my anxiety but the doctor is hesitant about prescribing anything like Xanax because of its addictive traits and I fully understand the reasons he feels that way. My question is what is a good way to ask my physician about taking Xanax for my anxiety since it really has helped me deal with my anxiety? And I'd rather take it thnn taking Buprenorphine. Is anyone else taking Alprazolam or Xanax to treat anxiety, and what are your experiences with either?

Alprazolam is generic Xanax, right?



Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I believe Alprazolam is generic Xanax. Your doctor is correct in that he/she does not want to prescribe it since it is so addicting, much more addicting than Buprenorphine.
